SA Driver & Operator Accreditation
(DIT Rules)
The South Australian Department for Infrastructure and Transport (DIT) sets the accreditation rules for anyone providing rideshare or passenger transport services
Driver Accreditation
Required for individuals who drive passengers for hire or reward. This process involves checks such as criminal history, medical fitness, and driving history.
Operator Accreditation
Required for businesses or booking service providers who manage passenger transport services. Operators must meet safety, insurance, and compliance responsibilities under SA law.
Vehicle Standards
Vehicles must meet inspection and compliance rules for small passenger vehicles.
Booking Rules
All trips must be pre-booked through an accredited booking service (street hailing is not allowed)
PickMe Now Standards
In addition to DIT requirements, PickMe Now drivers must meet our own standards
Hold an unrestricted South Australian driver’s license
Hold valid SA Driver Accreditation
Hold valid SA Operator Accreditation
Have valid work rights in Australia
Hold comprehensive rideshare insurance
Hold valid public liability insurance (minimum of $5 million cover)
Successfully complete the PickMe Now Driver Safety Training Program
Agree & accept PickMe Now driver Agreement
Driver Safety Training
All drivers are expected to complete the PickMe Now Driver Safety Program before starting. This program can be accessed through our website and provides practical guidance on safe driving, rider interactions, and using in-app features effectively.
How to get started
Apply for SA driver and operator accreditation (Small Passenger Vehicle category).
Complete background checks & medicals if requested.
Present your vehicle for inspection and fit required signage.
Create your PickMe Now driver account and upload documents.
Complete onboarding and the Driver Safety Training Program.
Go online and accept your first trip.
